Overview
Playa del Puerco is a long stretch of sandy beach between La Barrossa and Roche, and a good option when you want to escape the crowds. The wave here is much like Roche: fast, tubular lefts and rights breaking over sand, with plenty of close-outs at lower tides. The water is clean, the lineup is rarely crowded, and there are no hassles.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from southwest to northwest (SW-NW), with northwest (NW) swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so there is a decent spread of swell sizes to aim for.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east (E) wind to groom the waves, and when it blows strong, the cliffs offer some protection. Surf it at low or mid tide, with a rising tide the better call, since the lower stages tend to serve up more of those fast close-outs.
Local Tips
This is a friendly spot for beginners, and with the lineup rarely busy there is usually plenty of room to catch waves at your own pace.
Access
A dirt track leads to the clifftop between Urb Sancti Petri and Urb Roche.
