Playita is a right-hand point that peels over an uneven reef. It is not the most relaxing session you will find, since planes passing low overhead keep the setting noisy rather than mellow. If it is not doing much, there is another Playita just north of the airport, a fickle right pointbreak with some decent jetty options just to the west.
When It Works
The point takes swell from north through east, and a northeast (NE) swell is the best match for lining up the reef. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so there is a fair bit of range to play with once a swell fills in. Consistency is on the fickle side, so it pays to time your visit with an active swell.
Wind and Tide
Look for a south (S) offshore wind to clean up the face. The reef works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers comfortable reading a reef break. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it is on.
Access
Parking is straightforward, with free roadside spots close to the break.
