Point St George Surf Forecast Guide

Point St George is a semi-pointbreak setup, pairing a lefthand reef over a rock ledge with a good right sandbar. Some sections turn hollow. The outside sea stacks and reefs bleed the energy out of large swells, so a 15-foot swell can stand up only head high here.

When It Works

The reef and sandbar come alive during large winter swells. It draws swell from south to north and is usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Just to the north, the inside beachbreak rights get good on smaller swells.

Wind and Tide

Look for southeast offshore wind, which also helps the inside rights turn on. The break works on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

Access

Reach the break via the grassy knoll trail at the end of Radio Road. Out to sea, the St. George Light marks St. George Reef, 7 miles offshore.
