Overview
Regienca is a long beach break and one of the best waves in the state, breaking over sand with peaks that run both left and right. The lefts are the standout here, standing tall and opening into roomy barrels when the swell lines up. It also sits within a protected sea turtle nesting area.
When It Works
Swell reaches Regienca from northeast through east-southeast to south (NE-ESE-S), with southeast (SE) the best direction. Those roomy barrels really come alive in east-to-south swells. It's a consistent break that works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. On big days, when the main beach closes out, the Boca do Rio rivermouth can line up as a backup.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind, though the beach is perfectly happy with a northeast sea breeze too. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate wave with real punch. There's no clear paddling channel and rips run through the lineup, so it's not a spot for beginners. Expect a busy lineup when it's firing. The river brings dirty water into the lineup, and there's a chance of a few sharks in the area, though no attacks have been recorded.
Access
Parking is straightforward, with a car park offering free parking plus roadside spots nearby.
