Overview
Saint Anne's is a pair of reef peaks just south of Avila Beach, breaking over boulders. Both peaks tend to be soft and mushy, and each one offers a left and a right.
When It Works
The reef pulls in swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), and it lines up best on a southwest (SW) swell. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, but it really needs size to come alive, either a big winter swell or a strong south swell. Consistency is only medium, so it's more about catching the right window than turning up any day.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast (NE) offshore wind. The peaks also sit somewhat sheltered from northwest winds, which keeps them an option on a breezier day. It favors low to mid tide, with mid tide the best of it and a rising tide the better call.
Local Tips
When it's on, both peaks draw a crowd, so expect plenty of company in the lineup on the good days.
