Overview
San Simeon Creek is a hollow beachbreak that breaks over sand in front of and just south of the State Park campground. It closes out frequently, but a reef at the south end can produce some shapely lefts.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest, with a southwest (SW) swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft and wants a small, peaky swell to keep the banks from shutting down, offering both lefts and rights.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east (E) offshore wind to clean it up. It favors mid tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Access
Park for free in the dirt lot along Hwy 1 opposite the campground turn-off. The State Park campground has restrooms, showers, and camping.
