Santinho is a left-hander that breaks over a mix of uneven reef and sand, tucked below the northeastern tip of Santa Catarina Island. The beach here is undeveloped and regularly serves up decent peaks, and the north end picks up the most swell.
When It Works
Santinho draws swell from east through south, and it comes together best on a southeast (SE) swell. East swells can get it firing as well. It's a consistent break that works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast (NE) offshore wind to clean up the wave. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The left is approachable enough for beginners, and the lineup stays moderately busy when it's on. It never gets as crowded as the beaches closer to town.
Access
You'll find restrooms, showers, a lifeguard, camping, and both a surf school and surf shop on hand. Parking is easy, with a car park offering free parking alongside roadside spots.
