Overview
São Lourenco is a sand-bottom beach break sitting in front of a large condo development, part of the 60km (40mi) stretch of variable surf running from Bertioga to Maresia along the SP055. Small rivermouth sandbars line the beach, carving out deeper channels and shaping easy, sloping walls and shoulders with both lefts and rights on offer.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from east through south, and it comes together best on a southeast (SE) swell. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and it holds its shape reliably, delivering waves consistently across the season. When the swell picks up, the corners fill in fast, but a long paddle opens up a spread of peaks through the middle of the beach.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northwest (NW) offshore wind to clean things up. The bank works through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The forgiving walls and shoulders suit intermediate surfers, and the lineup gets busy when it's on. The corners in particular get packed, so paddling out to the middle peaks pays off on bigger days. Keep an eye on the currents, which can run strong in east swells.
