Overview
Sibigau Rights is a right-hand reef break that peels over live coral. It's an escape option when the wind turns north, though it rarely lines up cleanly. Across the calm bay there's a wild right wedge, but a few badly placed coral heads spoil what looks like a promising setup.
When It Works
The reef pulls in swell from southwest to west, and it needs plenty of west (W) in the swell to wrap in and connect. When it does, expect stop-start walls tracking along an ill-defined reef rather than one clean line. It works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft. Don't count on it often, since it rarely comes together. On higher tides the wave eases into relaxed shoulders, running at roughly half the size and regularity of Thunders around the corner.
Wind and Tide
A north (N) wind blows offshore here. The reef comes to life at mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a manageable spot for intermediates, and when it's on you can usually score it without a crowd.
