Sue-meg is a point break that peels both left and right over a mix of sand and rock. It carries a decent, fun reputation, and the paddle can be demanding, especially once the surf jumps overhead.
When It Works
The point draws swell from west to north-northwest (W-NNW) and comes alive through autumn and winter, roughly September to February. It works from 1.5 m / 5 ft to 4.6 m / 15 ft, holding anything from head high up to several times overhead.
Wind and Tide
Look for east-southeast (ESE) offshore wind, with a workable window running from east to south-southeast (E-SSE). It breaks on both low and high tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a wave for intermediate and expert surfers, best matched to a shortboard, funboard, or gun depending on the day. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on, and the atmosphere can feel a little reserved.
Access
Getting there is easy: take Exit 101 at Patrick's Point Drive and follow it to the park entrance. The surrounding environment stays clean.
