Tajiguas is a surf spot located along a small stretch of beach just north of Refugio on Highway 101. It features various peaks that can be clearly seen from the road. The surf here has been known to be hit or miss in recent years, but it's regularly surfed and can be reliable for at least some rideable waves. The bottom consists of a mix of boulders and sand, and it’s best accessed by parking in the dirt on the ocean side of the road, where two trails lead down to the beach.

This spot tends to work best during the spring with medium to low tides. Ideal swell directions are from the west, although it can also handle south-west and north swells. The waves usually break left and right, making it a spot that beginner surfers can enjoy. Tajiguas handles swell sizes starting from about 1 foot (0.3 meters) and is suitable for low to mid tide heights. The best wind direction is from the north, which can help shape the waves nicely.
