Tanjung Sari surf guide

Tanjung Sari is a surf spot located in Bali that offers a more laid-back vibe compared to some of the busier spots around. It's known for its scenic views and relatively less crowded waves, making it an appealing choice for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle. The line-up here features a big bend in the reef, which creates both left and right waves, providing a variety of rides depending on the swell conditions.

The surf at Tanjung Sari works best with a south swell, but it can also handle some action from the west. The optimal size for the waves is around 3 feet (about 1 meter). You'll find right-hand waves that can peel perfectly for a good distance when the tide is lower and there's a strong south to southwest swell. These rights can be fast and sectiony, with minimal coral cover, making each wave a mixed bag. The lefts are generally easier to ride, featuring a nice cover-up section and then a short wall to the channel. It’s suitable for intermediate surfers, so you'll want to have some experience under your belt before paddling out. A northwest wind is preferable here, with the break working at low, mid, and high tide.

Since Tanjung Sari is less crowded than other nearby breaks like Sanur, it can be a good spot to catch some waves without worrying about bumping into too many other surfers. The paddle out is pretty easy, so you can spend more time riding and less time battling your way through the line-up.
