Overview
Teluk Cempedak is a sand-bottomed beach break just north of Kuantan, and it's the usual pick for surfers heading over from Kuala Lumpur. The beach is an attractive one, dotted with granite boulders, and the waves peel both left and right.
When It Works
It draws swell from north through east (N-E), with a northeast (NE) swell the best match, and works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.2 m / 4 ft. The waves are often sloppy here, though they hold up well enough that the beach has hosted the occasional surf contest.
Wind and Tide
A west (W) offshore wind cleans up the faces. Teluk Cempedak works through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

Fast-food restaurants and shops sit right behind the beach, which keeps the area busy with visitors.
