Overview
The Point is a left-hand reef break down the coast from Morro Negrito surf camp, reached by a roughly 20-minute walk south past Emily's. It breaks over an uneven, shallow reef and, when a sizable swell fills in, throws fast, pitching lefts with good tubes.
When It Works
The Point needs a decent swell to come to life. It draws swell from south through southwest, with southwest the best match, and is usable from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. It's moderately consistent, so you'll want to time it for the right window.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind to clean it up. The reef can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call, though the lefts get their fastest, most pitching shape on lower tides.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate-level reef break, and the tubing lefts make it a favourite with goofy-footed surfers. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
Access
The Point sits about 20 minutes' walk south of Morro Negrito surf camp. It's not an easy spot to enter and exit, and parking nearby is restricted.
