The Ranch surf guide

The Ranch is a surf spot located near El Capire. It has been a well-kept secret for a long time, but nowadays, it attracts surfers from nearby resorts who come by car or boat. This spot offers decent surf breaks, making it popular among local and visiting surfers.

The waves at The Ranch break both left and right, often providing a good mix depending on the swell direction. The optimal swell direction is from the SouthWest, with additional swells coming from the South and Northwest. The spot can handle swell sizes up to around 3 feet (about 0.9 meters), breaking over uneven reef and creating both reef waves. Many surfers head here for the lefts, which are known to be fairly consistent and sometimes bigger than those at neighboring spots. The right breaks are more frequent with Northwest swells, but the rivermouth can line up well too. This spot works well at low, mid, and high tides, making it versatile for different surfers. Keep in mind, it's best suited for intermediate surfers due to the nature of the waves.

These days, The Ranch does get crowded, especially at the outside peak. There can be some vibe in the water, but if youโ€™re willing to sit inside, you might find some rewarding sections away from the main line-up. The preferred wind direction is Northeast, which can help shape up the waves nicely.
