Toes Over is a small, hollow right that peels off the south jetty of Ballona Creek and breaks over sand. The water here is heavily polluted, so it is best treated as a fun summer option for surfers willing to brave the dirty conditions.
When It Works
The break draws swell from south through west, and a southwest (SW) swell is the best match. It is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and it really comes alive on a head-high southwest swell. It can be inconsistent, so it pays to wait for the right pulse.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast (NE) offshore wind to clean it up. The right favors mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Toes Over suits intermediate surfers, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it is working.
Access
There is free on-street parking along Esplanade and along Ballona Creek.
