Overview
Tofinho is a high-quality right-hand point and the main draw along this stretch of coast. The point gathers plenty of swell, and the take-off can be critical, dropping over a very shallow, sharp reef of dead coral. Once you're through that first ledgy section, the wave peels quickly along the sandy edge of the reef and opens into good tube sections.
When It Works
The point pulls in swell from northeast through east-southeast to south and is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. It's moderately consistent, so it won't turn on every day, but it delivers when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southwest offshore wind to clean it up. It breaks on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Tofinho suits intermediate surfers, mostly because of that critical, shallow take-off. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.

There's free roadside parking on the hill near the monument.
