Overview
Treasure Island is one of Indonesia's standout pointbreak-style reefs, a right-hander that reels for 200m or more beneath the untouched jungle of a protected conservation island. An easy roll-in feeds the first of up to four throwing tube sections, linked by rippable, stiff-lipped walls that let you join barrels together with plenty of open face. It breaks over live coral.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from south to southwest (S-SW) and lights up best on a southwest (SW) swell. It is usable from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, so it wants a bit of size to get going and still holds its shape well into the bigger end. Consistency is moderate, which means worthwhile windows rather than surf every day, and it is medium to big swells that turn on the full run of tube sections.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind to groom the walls. The reef works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The main wave suits intermediate surfers, and with plenty of waves to go round there is room to spread out even when the lineup gets moderately busy. The outside indicator reefs are strictly for barrel-crazy experts. Tucked further inside the bay, Minis is a more playful right with a short tube and a workable face on larger swells.
Access
The setup sits off Bangkaru, an uninhabited island with no mammals and, handily, free of mosquitoes.
