Tres Playitas is a consistent beach break that peels both left and right over sand. These popular summer beaches host most of the area's contests, and the wave size tends to grow the further north you go. It is nothing special on the whole, but when the swell drops small you can still find a few corners sprinkled along the sand.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from south through west (S-W), with southwest (SW) the best match. It is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and it holds up as a consistent option when you want a reliable session.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast (SE) offshore wind to clean things up. The bank works through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a friendly spot for beginners, just keep an eye out for scattered rocks and rip gullies as you move around the beach. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it is working.
