Overview
Tsurigawakakou is a sand-bottom rivermouth beach break where jetties hold the sand on both sides of the mouth. Surfers around Fukuoka often check this rivermouth before heading to nearby Kanezaki. It usually runs much smaller than Kanezaki, but when the sandbanks line up it can throw some decent barrels.
When It Works
The bank peels both left and right and draws swell from northwest through to northeast, with northwest (NW) the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.5 m / 5 ft. Sitting over sand, it's moderately consistent, so you'll find rideable days without expecting it to turn on every time.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast (SE) offshore wind to clean it up. It can work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

This is a friendly spot for beginners, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
