Vazon Bay - Centres surf guide

Vazon Bay - Centres is one of the most popular surf spots on the island, known for its diverse wave options. It's a beachfront location with easy access from the car park that overlooks the break. This spot tends to get crowded, especially during the summer and early autumn, as itโ€™s a central hub for the Guernsey surf scene. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced surfer, there's something here for everyone, though you should be prepared for competition in the water.

The surf at Centres offers a mix of beach and reef breaks, handling swells from about 0.6 meters to 1.5 meters (2 to 5 feet). The optimal swell direction here is Northwest, with other swells coming from the Southwest and Northeast. There are rights and lefts available, making it suitable for various riding styles. It works best around high tide, particularly during spring tides when the swells are bigger. The bottom consists of sand and uneven reef, so be cautious of rocks, especially when the waves are larger. This spot is flexible, accommodating everything from fun, rolling waves to more challenging barrels.

While the break is popular year-round, it shines brightest during the autumn months, especially from September to November when the swells are cleaner. It caters to a range of abilities, with options for shortboards, fish, funboards, longboards, bodyboards, and SUPs, so you can bring whatever board you've got. Just keep in mind that the competitive local vibe can make it tough to find your own space out there.
