Wacky Point is a right-hand point break at the Kei Mouth that reels over a rock ledge. It's somewhat fickle, but an absolute gem when it's on, with a couple of challenging, tubular sections that unload over the rocky shelves.
When It Works
The point draws swell from east through south to southwest, and south swell is the best match. It's usable from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft and is moderately consistent, so it pays to catch it on a solid pulse.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind. The point can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one is for expert surfers, with tubular sections firing over a rocky shelf. Expect a moderate crowd on the days it turns on.
Access
Getting here means a long drive along bad roads on the border of the Transkei, which is part of why East London locals rarely make the trip. There's a car park with free parking, plus camping if you want to stay over.
