Wombarra surf guide

Wombarra is a lesser-known surf spot located along the stunning South Coast of Australia. It offers a more laid-back atmosphere, attracting surfers who prefer to escape the crowds often found at more popular beaches like Sandon. This spot is mainly known for its reef break, which can provide some decent waves when conditions align just right. While it may not be the most consistent spot, it's worth considering for a surf session if you're in the area.

The surf at Wombarra tends to work best with a SouthEast swell, but it can also handle East and South swells. When the sand fills in the holes of the reef, you might get some decent right-hand waves that can run for about 200 meters. The ideal swell size is around 3 feet (about 0.9 meters), and the waves break over an uneven reef and sand, making it more suited for expert surfers. For the best experience, aim for a low to mid tide, and keep in mind that a west wind is usually the most favorable.

Watch out for some sketchy bits of reef in the water; they can be a real hazard if you're not careful. The good news is that since many surfers tend to flock to the more famous spots, you can expect lighter crowds here, allowing for a more relaxed surf session. Just make sure to keep an eye on the conditions and timing, as the magic happens when everything lines up just right.
