Xangão is a localised right-hander in Barra do Sahy, breaking off an offshore reef over a mix of uneven reef and sand. It has a sucky take-off that feeds into a long wall, so there's a good stretch of face to work once you're up and riding.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from east through south (E-S), with east swell the best match. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, holding its shape well as the swell builds. Consistency is moderate, so count on worthwhile windows when the setup lines up rather than waves on demand.
Wind and Tide
Look for west offshore wind to groom the face. It breaks on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Expect a busy lineup when it's on. There can be some bad vibes in the water here, so keep a low profile and give the regulars their space.
