Overview
Anse de Pen-hat, also known as Penhat or Pen Had, is a hollow beachbreak with peaks that break both left and right. It sits beneath a beautiful backdrop of castle ruins, and there are more waves nearby that offer shelter when swells and winds turn big.
When It Works
Pen-hat draws swell from southwest through northwest, with a west swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft and breaks consistently over sand. It picks up less swell than nearby La Palue despite good westerly exposure. Strong rips shape the peaks at either end, and the waves carry some punch on the favoured mid-incoming tide.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east offshore wind. The bank works across low, mid, and high tide, but a rising tide is the better call, with the mid-incoming stage the pick of the range.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate-friendly beachbreak, and crowds are on the rise. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it works.

Follow signs to Pointe du Toulinguet to reach the spot. There's a car park with free parking.
