Overview
Anse Gaulette is a reef and beachbreak in the Baie Lazare area, breaking both left and right over dead coral. With some southwest groundswell it becomes one of a handful of options along the bay, and the reefs fronting the defunct Plantation Club can throw up head-high walls when everything lines up.
When It Works
The spot draws swell from southwest through southeast, with south swell the best match. It is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft and stays moderately consistent. The Plantation Club reef is the standout when it fires, but it sits very shallow, so it really needs a high spring tide around 1.8 m and a proper offshore to turn on.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind. It works on mid and high tide, with a rising tide the better call, and given how shallow the reef sits, the fuller water of a high spring tide is what truly wakes it up.
Local Tips
Anse Gaulette suits intermediate surfers, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it works.
