Overview
Aucanada, also known as Puerto Comercial Spot, is a left-hand reef break on Mallorca that breaks over an uneven reef. It is a rare one: the wave only comes to life a few times a year, but when it does, it can be very good, peeling off into long lefts.
When It Works
Getting Aucanada to break takes a very big north swell, so working days are few and far between. The reef draws swell from north to northeast, with north swell the best match, and it works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for southwest offshore wind to clean it up. The reef can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Aucanada suits intermediate surfers. The local crew will always be on it when it breaks, so expect familiar faces in the lineup on the rare days it turns on.
