Overview
Bayah Beach sits on Java's southwest tip, an empty, exposed and punchy beachbreak. Within Ujung Kulon National Park the choices are thin until you reach it, and the place only starts to look tempting when small, peaky swells are running.
When It Works
The peaks break over sand and throw up both lefts and rights. It draws swell from south through west, with southwest (SW) the best match, and it's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. Consistency is rarely the issue here, since it's very consistent, but it wants those smaller, peaky days: push much beyond head-high and it turns into thumping close-outs with rips.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast (NE) offshore wind. The beach can work across low, mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
On the small, peaky days it's an approachable beginner wave, though the close-outs and rips above head-high call for more care. The lineup stays quiet, so you'll often have the peaks to yourself.
