Overview
Bundoran - 3D's is a reef break just northeast of the Peak in Bundoran Bay. It breaks over a rock ledge and spits both left and right barrels, and it's a high-quality wave when everything comes together.
When It Works
The reef takes swell from the west to northwest (W-NW), with northwest (NW) the best direction. It's usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. Being somewhat inconsistent, it pays to time your swell, and autumn, winter and spring are the best seasons.
Wind and Tide
This is a spring high tide reef, so it needs high tide to work, with a rising tide the better call. For wind, look for a southeast (SE) offshore.
Local Tips
Bring a shortboard or bodyboard; it's popular with bodyboarders and surfers chasing barrels. It's very shallow and dangerous over the reef, so it's strictly expert territory. Expect a busy lineup when it's working.
Access
There's a car park with free parking, plus roadside parking. In town you'll find restrooms, camping, a surf school and a surf shop.
