Overview
Cala Major is a sandy beachbreak counted among the better spots in the south, offering both lefts and rights. It doesn't break often, but on the good days the reward can be small barrels.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from southeast through south to west (SE-S-W), with southeast (SE) swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, a fairly wide window before conditions drop out or max the banks. Consistency is the catch here: the days that really light it up don't come around often.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north (N) wind to hold the waves up offshore. The banks can work through the whole tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The waves here suit beginners. Expect a busy lineup when it's working, since the rare good days tend to pull a crowd.
Access
There's paid parking near the beach, and a lifeguard keeps watch. Water quality can suffer from residential pollution, so keep that in mind before paddling out.
