Cupe is a long, sandy beach break that runs south of the 1 km (0.6 mi) jetty at Porto de Suape. It serves up a consistent line of peaks with enough shape and power to hold a regular local crew, breaking both left and right over sand. On the right tide it turns hollow, mixing open walls with the occasional barrel.
When It Works
Cupe draws swell from east through south, with southeast (SE) the best direction for lining up those peaks. It stays reliable across a wide band, working from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so there is usually something to ride when a swell is running.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind to clean it up. The beach works through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The forgiving, sandy peaks make Cupe an approachable spot for beginners still finding their feet. Expect a busy lineup when it is on, though the long stretch of beach leaves room to spread out and find your own peak.
Access
There is plenty on hand here, with restrooms, showers, a lifeguard, and both a surf school and a surf shop close by. For parking you can choose between a car park with free spaces, paid lots, or pulling up roadside.
