Overview
Dunes Hotel is an average beachbreak tucked along a strip of hotels, with waves breaking over sand and peeling both left and right.
When It Works
The bank draws swell from north through east-northeast to southeast (N-ENE-SE), and it lines up best on a northeast (NE) swell, when the beachbreak tends to run left at the lower tides. A bit of southeast windchop can serve up some rights, and those are more forgiving across the tide. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft and stays moderately consistent.
Wind and Tide
Look for a west (W) offshore wind to clean it up. It breaks on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a friendly spot for beginners, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
Access
Access is the tricky part here. The beachfront is a wall of hotels, each claiming its own private strip of sand and limiting public entry, so finding a way down can be a hassle. Parking is roadside and metered, with some restrictions to watch for.
