El Charco surf guide

El Charco is a surf spot located on the coast, known for its consistent left-hand waves. The best conditions usually happen with northwest swells and when there's a south wind. When the swell hits about 2 meters (6 feet), the wave really starts to come together. It’s a spot that can accommodate expert surfers, as it has some powerful sections, making it quite challenging.

The waves here break over some uneven reef, creating point break conditions that work best at high tide. Surfers get the best rides during northeast swell directions, although it can handle north and northwest swells as well. The wave can get really tubular, especially when the swell is up, and it’s known for having multiple sections that can link up when the conditions are right. Just remember that it’s definitely suited for experienced surfers due to the heavy currents and the sharper elements of the reef.

There’s also an outside peak known as El Pozo, which attracts big wave surfers when the conditions are on point. Localism can be an issue, so it’s good to be aware and respectful when you’re out in the water. The vibe here can get tough, but if you've got the skills, El Charco can be a rewarding spot to surf.
