Overview
El Confital on Tenerife's exposed south coast is a fast, hollow left breaking over an uneven reef. It's a challenging wave, and one strictly for expert surfers.
When It Works
The reef picks up swell from southwest through southeast, with south swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and the recipe is simple: just about any south swell paired with north wind will do the job, as long as it doesn't get too big.
Wind and Tide
Look for north offshore wind. The wave breaks on mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one is expert territory. When conditions come together, mainly in spring and summer, the lineup gets seriously crowded, and there's some localism in the water — experienced surfers only.
Access
There's free parking along the roadside.
