Overview
Hidden Beach is a beachbreak in the Rainbow Bay area, throwing both lefts and rights over live coral. The wider stretch picks up plenty of swell, but most of the time you get a heavy beachbreak. It takes a genuinely big day for Hidden Beach's point to reveal itself, and that's what makes this one worth watching.
When It Works
The break takes swell from north through east-northeast to southeast, with north the best match. Northeast and east swells are the ones that suit it best in practice. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and it can be somewhat inconsistent, so it pays to catch it when the swell lines up rather than counting on it.
Wind and Tide
Look for south offshore wind. Mid tide is the best call, with a rising tide the better half of the cycle.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers. The lineup stays fairly quiet, and with live coral underneath, it's worth knowing where you're paddling.
