Infiernillo Surf Forecast Guide

Overview

Infiernillo is a short, full-on barreling left point just a walk from La Puntilla, and it comes into its own when the swell is small and not quite pushing into the bay next door. It breaks over uneven reef and sand, and on its day it holds a similar quality to Punta Lobos. This is a proper grinder rather than an easy point, so it rewards a look on small to moderate, glassy days.

When It Works

The point draws swell from south through west, with southwest swell the best match. It's usable from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 2.1 m / 7 ft, and it breaks consistently through the season. With no wind protection and an exposure open to all swells, glassy mornings are when it's worth checking. When it's on, fast lefts sweep over the rocky protrusions that build the bridging sand, though predictability can be hard to come by.

Wind and Tide

Look for east offshore wind to clean it up. It works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. Low tide runs faster, while a higher tide can improve your chances of making the section.

Local Tips

This one suits strong, experienced intermediates and up. Expect a fair pack in the lineup when it's firing. The paddle-out is always a handful here, and getting pinned on the inside is more or less guaranteed despite its pointbreak status, so pick your moments.

Access

There's a surf school on hand, plus a car park with free parking and roadside parking nearby.
