Overview
Jenkinsons is a powerful left that breaks over sand on the south side of Manasquan Inlet at Point Pleasant. Deep water just offshore focuses incoming swell into a punchy wedge that barrels for a short distance before folding into the shoredump. Expect a short, intense ride rather than a long wall.
When It Works
The wedge only fires on a northeast or east swell, drawing energy from northeast through southeast (NE-SE), with northeast (NE) the best match. It's a consistent spot once the swell lines up, working from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft. One thing to plan around: it generally doesn't break in summer, which is also when access is most restricted.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind to clean it up, though the wedge will also handle a southwest wind. The lefts favor the lower half of the tide, working through low and mid tide with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate-friendly wave, but expect a busy lineup when it works, with plenty of bodyboarders sharing the peak.
Access
There are restrooms and a lifeguard on hand, and parking is easy to sort out, with a car park offering free spaces plus paid, metered, and roadside options nearby. Keep in mind that the boardwalk here is privately owned and enforces tags, and private guards generally keep surfers out of the water through summer.
