Junshan village, Pingtan Island surf guide

Junshan Village, located on Pingtan Island about 15 km north of Pingtan Town, offers a 4 km long stretch of rocky coastline. This spot features several rock bottom reef breaks that cater primarily to expert surfers. The area can be quite challenging due to its dangerous submerged rocks and strong rips, especially during full moons when the tide can range up to 7 meters. While the conditions can be tough, there's a chance to catch some waves here if you're up for it.

This spot works best with swells coming from the Northeast and can handle swell sizes starting from around 2 ft (0.6 meters). The waves are a mix of left and right breaks, predominantly over uneven reef. You can find something breaking at both high and low tide, making it versatile in that sense. However, you’ll want to keep an eye on the wind direction; a Southwest wind is preferred to get the best wave quality.

Consistency can be a bit hit or miss due to winter onshores, so don’t expect too many perfect days. Despite the variability, if you’re an expert surfer willing to tackle the conditions, Junshan Village can be a rewarding spot to explore.
