Overview
Kani Rock is a punchy beach break where powerful rights and lefts throw out close to shore over a mix of boulders and sand. It's a compact, high-energy setup that packs its power right where the wave meets the beach.
When It Works
The break draws swell from northeast through southeast (NE-SE), with a northeast swell the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so there's a decent working window once a suitable swell lines up. Expect moderately consistent conditions, with worthwhile sessions when the swell fills in.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind to clean things up. The break can work through low, mid, and high water, but a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
Kani Rock is a good match for intermediate surfers ready for waves that break hard and fast close to the sand. The lineup stays fairly quiet, so you can usually count on plenty of room even when it's working.
Access
A tourist lookout makes getting to the spot straightforward, and there's a car park with free parking nearby.
