Kazamoto is a fun right-hand rivermouth break that can still deliver when the rest of the Pacific coast is closed out. The wave peels over a mix of boulders and sand, and when it's overhead the rides stretch out long.
When It Works
Kazamoto draws swell from northeast through southeast, with northeast the best match and the direction that finds its way in most easily. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and really comes to life once the surf is overhead. It can be somewhat inconsistent, so it rewards catching it on the right day.
Wind and Tide
Look for offshore wind from the southwest. The break can work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one needs a bit of skill to ride, so it suits intermediate surfers and up. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on.
