Overview
L'Ermitage is a sand-bottomed beachbreak on the St-Brevin coast, the first place to surf south of the Loire estuary. Peaks here run both left and right, and the wide open sands pull in kiters whenever the cross/onshores blow, which is often.
When It Works
The bank draws swell from southwest through northwest (SW-NW), with west swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft and stays moderately consistent. Les Rochelets sits further north, but on the push l'Ermitage is usually a touch better.
Wind and Tide
Look for north offshore wind to clean up the faces. The beach can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a beginner-friendly beachbreak, and the lineup stays fairly quiet even when it's working. Keep an eye out for strong currents, and be aware that water quality can be poor.

There's a car park with free parking, plus restrooms, showers, a surf school, and lifeguard cover.
