Overview
La Lanzada is an average beachbreak near the town of Sanxenxo in Spain, with lefts and rights peeling over sand along a curving stretch of beach. That curve is part of its appeal: it offers a bit of protection from northwest wind along its length. There's also a left reef here, and camping nearby puts you within reach of some other good waves at Playa de Montalbo.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from southwest to northwest, with northwest (NW) swell the best match. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so there's a decent spread of sizes to aim for before things get too small or too heavy.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast (NE) offshore wind, and remember the curving beach can take some of the sting out of a northwest breeze. Tide matters here: low to mid tide is best, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
La Lanzada suits expert surfers. Expect the lineup to get a bit busy in summer, and note that the left reef can be crowded with a degree of localism, so keep that in mind when picking your peak.
Access
Getting sorted here is easy, with free parking and good beach facilities including restrooms, showers and a lifeguard. There's camping nearby if you want to stay close to the waves.
