La Salvaje surf guide

La Salvaje is a popular surf spot known for its consistent waves and beachbreak setup. Located on the northern coast, this spot attracts a lot of surfers looking to catch some rides, especially during the peak season. The beach is always bustling, making it a lively place to hit the waves.

The surf here is pretty decent, especially on small to medium swells, which can range from about 1ft (0.3m) to more substantial sizes. It handles swells coming from the Northwest, West, and North directions quite well. You'll find mostly left and right beach breaks, with two semi-permanent peaks that surfers gravitate towards. The best surfing conditions usually happen at mid to high tide, and it’s recommended for intermediate surfers who can navigate through the occasional strong rips.

While the spot offers good beach facilities and is a great place to surf, be prepared for crowds, especially during the summer months. Parking can be a challenge as it is metered and restricted, so plan ahead if you’re bringing a van or need to park for a while. Be ready to share the waves, as it’s a highly competitive environment, but also a fun place to meet fellow surfers.
