Overview
Laredo is a large circular bay with several beachbreak peaks, all breaking over sand and throwing both lefts and rights. The standout is the peak between the middle and western end of the bay, which comes together best at high tide.
When It Works
The bay draws swell from west to north (W-N), with north (N) the best direction, and it really comes alive on large winter swells. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, giving a wide working window once a proper swell fills in.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind to clean things up, though northwest winds also do an acceptable job. The peaks work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call and high tide bringing that middle-to-western peak to life.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate-friendly bay, and the lineup can get busy, especially on weekends.
Access
Facilities are easy to come by, with showers, camping, and lifeguard cover, plus roadside parking that gets tricky when the summer resort fills up. Keep in mind there's stormwater and residential pollution, worst toward the eastern end.
