Overview
Leste Oeste is an urban beachbreak tucked between the marina and a long jetty, right in the heart of town. It breaks over sand and peels as a left, though the wave has a split personality: some days it comes through weak and junky, other days it stands up steep and dumpy.
When It Works
The bank draws swell from north through east-northeast to southeast (N-ENE-SE), with a northeast swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft and is moderately consistent, so there are worthwhile windows when the sand and the swell line up.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southwest offshore wind to clean things up, while a southeast wind blows cross-shore. The break works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. It won't be as fat at low water, so it tends to hold more shape as the tide pushes in.
Local Tips
This is a friendly spot for beginners learning the ropes. Sitting slap in the middle of town, it's always busy, so expect a crowded lineup whenever it's working.
Access
Facilities are easy here, with restrooms, a lifeguard, and a surf shop nearby. Parking is flexible too, with a car park offering free spaces alongside paid and roadside options.
