Lighthouse – Pagai Selatan surf guide

Lighthouse – Pagai Selatan is a surf spot located on the north coast of an island, known for its appealing point breaks and consistent swells. This spot attracts surfers looking for a good ride, as it regularly sees waves formed by S-SW swells that wrap around the island. The area has a laid-back vibe, making it a great place to chill out when you're not in the water.

The surf here can really pack a punch, especially when the swell hits around 10ft (3 meters) or more. The optimal swell direction is from the south, but it also handles some good waves coming from the southwest. Surfers can expect mainly right-hand waves that break over live coral, offering some decent down-the-line speed walls. It’s important to note that low to mid or high tide works best here, and the spot is suited for intermediate surfers. A preferable west wind can help the conditions, but keep in mind that when the swell is on point, it can get pretty powerful and a bit hectic.

If you're looking for some variety, there’s a left break on the opposite side of the island, though it’s generally not as good as the right off Lighthouse. For a unique photo perspective, you can climb the 46ft (14 meters) lighthouse nearby. Just be cautious about the surrounding area and enjoy what Lighthouse – Pagai Selatan has to offer!
