Overview
Madihera is a quality left that wraps around the reef pass off the tip of the islet, running like a pointbreak with two distinct sections. The outside can get sucky and barrelling, while the inside offers speedy but more forgiving walls. It breaks over dead coral.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from southwest through southeast, with southeast (SE) swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast (NE) offshore wind, or glassy mornings with no wind at all. Anything from south through to northwest will shut the wave down. A southeast wind is worth having too, since it grooms those fast inside walls. The pass works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one is for expert surfers. Between the barrelling outside section and the coral bottom, it asks for surfers who already know how to handle a reef pass.
