Marigot Surf Forecast Guide

Marigot is a left-hand point that breaks over boulders on Haiti's south coast, just east of Jacmel. The coast road east of town is lined with gingerbread houses and gives plenty of lookouts to scan the many reefs and rivermouths that crowd this stretch.

When It Works

The point pulls in swell from east to south (E-S) and lines up best on a southeast (SE) swell. It can be somewhat inconsistent and isn't the most reliable option during the south coast season from July to September. When higher-period swells of seven seconds or more arrive, though, it delivers fast, tight-to-shore lefts around 3 ft (1 m) over boulders, with hollow sections. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.

Wind and Tide

Look for a north (N) offshore wind. The point works at low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

Local Tips

This is a wave for experts, and the lineup tends to stay quiet.

Access

Follow the rivermouth down to the coast just east of Marigot, where you'll find roadside parking.
