Noordhoek surf guide

Noordhoek is a surf spot located along a 3.5km stretch of golden sands. It offers fairly consistent waves, making it a decent choice for surfers looking for some fun. The spot is known for its ambiance, but crowds tend to thin out the further you walk from the car park. This area does have a notable shark presence, so it's something to keep in mind when you're out there.

The optimal swell direction for Noordhoek is from the Southwest, with viable swell directions coming from the South and West. It can handle swell sizes starting from about 1ft (0.3m) and works well with sand bottoms, producing beach breaks. You can find waves that break both left and right, providing some variety. The best conditions usually come when the wind is blowing from the Southeast, with low to mid tide being preferable for surfable waves. It’s worth noting that this spot is better suited for intermediate surfers, so keep that in mind if you’re still on your learning path.

Be sure to bring a thick wetsuit, especially during low tide when the water can get chilly. The length of the beach offers plenty of space, so you can often find your own spot to paddle out, especially if you're willing to walk a bit. Just be aware of the conditions and enjoy soaking up the surf vibes!
