Overview
Noordhoek is a long beach break running along 3.5 km of golden sand, with peaks that break both left and right over a sandy bottom. The surf is fun but variable in quality, and on the right day the peaks can turn classic. It's a good fit for intermediate surfers.
When It Works
Noordhoek is a consistent beach break that draws swell from south through west, with a southwest swell the best match. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind. The beach works on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. A thick wetsuit is a must here.
Local Tips
Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working, though the crowd thins out the further you walk from the car park. Keep in mind that this area carries a high shark-attack risk, so weigh that before paddling out.
